Be sure to listen – Tumbleweed Wanderers

After a series of crazy downloading of apps from the Apple appstore, I found this new app called “Band of the Day”. This app introduces you to a new band every single day. Most bands featured on this app are artists who are yet to discovered or emerging. With some of the new music we hear today sounding almost the same, I have been straying back to the 70s,80s, and 90s for unique sounds and am constantly in search of a new artist/band that can introduce the listener to something new, fresh and unique. And let me tell you, Band of the Day is just the perfect app if you are the kind of person that likes to experiment with sounds and have a ear for a wide variety of genres. Being someone who falls in that exact category, I was faced with two bands. Lindsay Lou and the Flatbellys / Tumbleweed Wanderers. While Lindsay Lou is more of a modern take on traditional American music and need not necessarily be something everyone can relate to, Tumbleweed Wanderers are a band of artists who make music that I think is fresh and something everyone can listen to. If you are the kind of person that likes a bit of every genre out there, you will definitely love Tumbleweed Wanderers. Check them out. If you are anything like I have described in the notes above, you will definitely like these guys.

Latest addiction

Two weeks back, I was on my way to Yosemite with family and my cousin was playing songs from Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya and Sakkarakatti. Now everyone knows VTV’s songs are awesome. No question! And we also know Sakkarakatti had some good songs. Especially that Taxi Taxi song which was played in literally every club in Chennai when the movie came out. My cousin played another song Marudhaani from that movie. I have listened to that song before but never more than a handful of times. This time however, she increased the volume and everybody just shut up when the song played and I realized what a beautiful song it is. I could listen to the voice over and over again. The singer’ voice is just like the music. Try shutting out all other sounds or better listen to this song on your headphones. You will actually see heaven.

Mr. Acapella

A few days back my cousin Vaish asked me to check out a video of this acapella guy. Mike Tompkins is like any other acapella guy and like no other acapella guy. He is very talented and makes songs so much better than the original. Try listening to his version of Only Girl by Rihanna. It’s way better than her version! So here’s the video for mash up acapella of Teenage Dream and Just the way you are.

We are the World

A song that can still tug at my heart strings.

The greatest gift to mankind to keep reminding us that

hope is always there for everyone

- no matter what your colour is, caste, race… no matter what.

Forever

Love you Michael Jackson for gifting the greatest song ever to the world.

WE ARE THE WORLD

There comes a time
When we hear a certain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying
And it’s time to lend a hand to life
The greatest gift of all

We can’t go on
Pretending day by day
That someone, somewhere will soon make a change
We are all a part of
God’s great big family
And the truth, you know love is all we need

[Chorus]
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let’s start giving
There’s a choice we’re making
We’re saving our own lives
It’s true we’ll make a better day
Just you and me

Send them your heart
So they know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free
As God has shown us by turning stone to bread
So we all must lend a helping hand

[Chorus]
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let’s start giving
There’s a choice we’re making
We’re saving our own lives
It’s true we’ll make a better day
Just you and me

When you’re down and out
There seems no hope at all
But if you just believe
There’s no way we can fall
Well, well, well, well, let us realize
That a change will only come
When we stand together as one

[Chorus]
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let’s start giving
There’s a choice we’re making
We’re saving our own lives
It’s true we’ll make a better day
Just you and me
